Long Time No Talk

It's been a while since this blog was active, and I'm feeling adventurous.

Hello again.

Pretty sure it's safe to say that our names are actually Jacynne (Jason) and Kate, and not Amber and Sophia.

We haven't seen each other since we met almost 2 years ago, and let me tell you, I miss Jacynne like crazy. She's one of my best friends. Meeting her was amazing. It was like meeting up with an old friend, since we already knew each other.

It's amazing to think that just simple letters brought our two families together. What are the chances? I won't question it - I like having Jacynne as a friend, and I like being hers. Life's crazy - live it up.

Let's see, Michigan (where I live) is finally trying to get into it's winter stage. Key word - trying. It's snowed a few times, rained a lot, and some frost. It's been staying around the 40's ish, sometimes dropping down to freezing. And guess who lost their winter coat? Yep, I did. Go Kate.

Jacynne and I both have texting now, which is nice. It makes it a little easier to communicate.

I don't know when I'll see Jacynne again, but I hope it's soon. I miss that girl a lot.

3 years!!!

Sophia and I have been Pen Pals for three years as of today! I received the first letter from her on April 15th 2007.
It came with animal stickers all over the envelope. The animals were barking, baa-ing, quacking and oinking, "Hello!" "Hi Pen Pal" and "Be Happy".

Dear Amber
Hi! I got your Pen Pal info Yesterday. My Name is Sophia Troxell, I am 12 years old, and I am in the 6th grade. Guess what?! I collect bouncy balls, and I do dance! I take ballet and tap, but ballet is my favorite. What kind of dance do you take?
I have 2 brothers and 1 sister, and I am the oldest. Clay is 10, Beth is 8, and William is 5. My brothers are crazy about Lego's, it drives me nuts! William can't stop talking about them! Nether can Clay. Do you have and brothers or sisters? I have to share a room with my little sister.
my brother Clay wants to know if you go swimming in Alaska, and Beth wants to know what the weather is like.
Last night Beth said she was not going to clean her room for a month! That sicks because I have to walk though her side of the room to get to the door.
I also take Karate. I am a green belt. The belt that you have stands for the form you are learning. The order of the belts is while, yellow, yellow stripe, green, green stripe, blue, blue stripe, red, red stripe, black I, black II, black III, black IIII, black IIIII and so on. On April 28th we have Karate testing. That is when we do the form we learned and some other stuff, then, if we pass, we get our next belt. Everyone usually passes because their teacher won't let them test unless their ready. I will be testing for my green stripe. Clay is a green stripe, but he is not ready to test. Beth is a while belt and she might test.
How do you say your name? You say mine So-fee-ah, it's ez.
Well I gotta go now. Please write back soon. Your new friend,
Sophia Troxell :)
P.S. my address is:
(here she wrote her address)
My e-mail is: (etc.)
Do you have an e-mail address?
My Phone number is: (etc.)
P.S.S I like happy faces! :)
To: Amber
From: your new pen pal
who likes happy faces!
Oh my! That seems like forever ago! Sophia is now 15 and she is now a Black Belt in Karate! She still take ballet but not tap. She also now takes lyrical jazz and jazz. She is still my pen pal and my friend and will forever remain so.

Together At Last!

We've met! Sophia and I have met each other in person!

It was everything I hoped it would be! I got out of the truck and started walking toward her house. I saw her door open and close. I saw her, Sophia, my Pen Pal for over 2 years! I thought to myself "Look it's a picture of Sophia but she's running at me!" It was just like a story book. We ran toward each other. We smacked together in a big, happy, smiling, screaming, hug.

She showed me around her house. We looked at her pets. Ate dinner. Talked about Dance, old letters, remembering the first letters we both received, how amazing it is that we are actually looking at one another, not just a picture of Sophia or a picture of Me. She showed me where she put the first picture I ever sent her. We talked about our week that we will get to spend together starting Thursday. And what fun things we are going to do.

I didn't feel like I was meeting someone for the first time. I felt as if this was someone I'd known forever. A friend. A sister.

I remember writing this (click here -> http://ak2mi.blogspot.com/2009/02/it-would-be-fun.html ) thinking that it would never happen that we would never meet. But we have!

It was the best day EVER!

This Is It..

The day ticks nearing and nearing with every passing second...

The day we finally meet!!

Can you believe it??

I can't. It all still feels like a dream. But Amber is leaving TODAY for the big vacation, and during that vacation, in December, we get to meet! And go to Chicago. And celebrate my birthday. And give each other presents in person! How amazing is that??

Pretty amazing, I thought.

And to think, we actually get to meet! How many pen pals ever meet each other??

Not many do, I don't think.

And we're one of the few who actually get to!

Dang, we're lucky!!

If you could all pray that Amber and her family have a safe trip to .. wherever they're all going, that would be great!!

Thanks everyone! we'll post again soon!!

OH MY GOODNESS!!!

WE'RE GOING TO MEET!!! WE REALLY ARE!!!

As of this summer my parents have been talking about taking a vacation. Well about August we decided we really would. My mother wants to get out of the darkness of winter here in Alaska so we're going down to the stats for almost 3 months!

My favorite part of the vacation will be meeting Sophia for the first time! And the best part... I'll be there for her golden birthday!

We have big plans. We're going to take the train to Chicago and go to American Girl Place. And we're going to have over nights. And I'm going to watch her dance classes! It will be so fun!

When ever we chat or in our letters and e-mails we are always counting down to December 6th, the day we are going to meet!

Sisters

Sophia:

So...we haven't written much lately, and I feel kinda bad about letting you all down. Problem is, it's hard to find something to write! So our new plan is Amber writes [and I help too] and I'm in charge of photos and photo editing [and she helps with that too]. Sounds simple, right?

wrong! We still can't find something to write about besides how we can't find something to write about! Which doesn't really count, it's so boring to read.

Anyway, I'm going to let Amber take over from here, she had a pretty good idea of what to write about.

Amber:

I agree with Sophia. It's hard to think of something to write. It took me 3 days to figure this out...

Sisters
You don't have to have to be blood related or even related at all to be sisters. There are lots of kinds of sisters... Blood sisters. Adopted sisters. Sisters in God. Sisters in looks. And in the case of Sophia and I sisters through Friendship.
Sophia and I have so much in common it's like we're twins!

Foot Injuries ... :P

So Amber pulled a muscle in her foot and can't do pointe until it's healed and I did who knows what to my foot, so now it hurts to walk on it and I have to ice it. Weird how we both hurt out feet in the same week. Oh well... :(
