In the past years I have not had many friends, our neighbors do public school, the friends that do home school live all the way out in Kenai, 45 minuets away, and Homer, 1 hour & 30 minuets away and all my cousins all live out-of state. So when I met Sophia, even though it was just through pen pals, I was REALLY happy!
At first I thought we would forget to write but she was faithful and so was I. My mom did not know what to think at first, she thought it was good that I had found someone to be my friend but she still wanted me to have friends here. After a while she told me that it was cool that me and Sophia were friends even though we had never met, because friends are friends no mater how far apart!
Sophia is just what I thought a friend should be, kind, funny, gentle, has lot in common with myself and is a all together inspiration!
Sophia, thanks for being there for me and for being my friend. Your inner star is shinning BRIGHT!
Yes, this pen pal friendship has really expanded my thinking on what and how friendships "should" work. It's funny because I have admired people from the past who wrote to each other before cars, phones, and way before the internet, but I guess really didn't think a true friendship could be forged without seeing and hearing the other person.
